Thousands of years ago, Chinese Taoists formulated a theory that there is an
eternal power that balances the universe between the YIN and YANG powers.
Moreover, this eternal power is the origin of the YIN and YANG, which, in turn,
constitute every object in the universe. The Taoists called this ultimate power
CH'I.
Human being, as part of the universe, are powered by the same source of energy,
CH'I, that takes a form of QI in a human body. The process of human life is
based on the interaction of Yin and Yang forces. Life increases and changes,
and for reasons that are still mysterious to us, life follows a natural cycle
and eventually dies. Ancient Chinese explain this cycle as the growth and
fading of QI (life energy). It is QI that determines human mental and physical
conditions. The way in which QI is expressed is commonly know as the nature of
things.
